For many people, the younger they look, the better they feel about themselves. However, age is an unstoppable process and as the body grows older so does the skin, consequently its appearance and characteristics change. Age, hormones, sun exposure and smoking can all cause fine lines and wrinkles to develop; skin feels more fragile and less elastic.
As we age the hyaluronic acid (HA) content of our skin – which is so important for water retention – decreases. Oil-producing (sebaceous) glands become less active and your skin becomes drier. The skin also loses fat, so it looks less plump and smooth and because the number of blood vessels in the skin decreases, the skin loses its youthful colour and glow.
While all these changes are taking place gravity is also at work, pulling at the skin and causing it to sag.
Amongst the options available to treat lines and wrinkles, dermal fillers which contain hyaluronic acid are a popular choice because they effectively diminish the signs of ageing and rehydrate the skin tissue. Treatment is quick, convenient and the results can be seen straight away.
Treatment can be completed in as little as 15 minutes but it can be longer depending on which areas are being treated.
Using a very fine needle your practitioner injects Amalian Hyaluronic acid filler under the surface of the skin – at shallow levels for fine lines and slightly deeper for more severe wrinkles and folds.
Amalian Hyaluronic acid filler can be injected easily and with reduced discomfort. The substance distributes evenly in the skin regardless of the high viscosity, the unique technology enables the gel to distribute quickly, and after a short time the full volume is restored, which creates the desired wrinkle filling effect.
The duration of effect can depend on age, how much filler is injected, where it is placed, the quality of the skin as well as general health and lifestyle. All Amalian Hyaluronic acid fillers are highly bocompatible, protein free and obtained from biofermentation that is free from animal components so no allergy tests are required prior to treatment. The beneficial effects can be expected to last from 6-12 months.
Following the injection, there may be some redness, swelling and bruising around the injection site. Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature and resolve within a few days, these include, but are not limited to, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching and discolouration. There is also a risk of infection with any injection procedure.
